Do you have any recommendations for nonprofits to find funding on Grant Connect?

Yes, many of our Grant Connect users are nonprofit organizations!

While most foundations require applicants to have a charitable registration number, here are some recommendations to help nonprofits with their prospect research: 

• Use Grant Connect’s search filters to find funding opportunities from corporations, government, community foundations, and grantmaking nonprofits. These sources are often open to nonprofits.

• Use the “Recipients” field in Grant Connect’s Gift Explorer feature to search for names of other nonprofits with a similar mission, geographic location and size to yours.  That will give you a sense of some funders who don't explicitly list that they're open to applications from nonprofits but have given to nonprofits in the past.

• Reach out to funders themselves prior to submitting an application if they have a funding opportunity that is a great fit for your organization, but requires a charitable registration number. On certain occasions, a funder may be able to support nonprofits.
