Grant Connect coaching: Doing a reverse look-up using Gift Explorer

In March 2025, Grant Connect introduced a revamped “Gift Explorer” to help you identify new funding prospects by viewing previous gifts and grants. Watch the video below to learn how to use the Gift Explorer to bolster your prospect research from the Funder Search.

This method of searching is based on the premise that a funder is more likely to support you if they’ve supported an organization that’s done similar work to yours in the past. 

In the Gift Explorer, you can search for: charities similar to yours, in-depth gift history of funders you might be interested in reaching out to, or even funders who have given to your organization in the past. As a tip, we recommend that you look at gifts to charities and nonprofits beyond your region, as funders may fund organizations outside of their priority areas. You can do so by filtering by “Recipient,” “Funder,” or “Location” in the chart.
